New training workshops in Villa María

Starting in April, the Villa María Farm School is launching a new series of hands-on workshops on agroecology and sustainable trades, promoting conscious production, self-sufficiency, and employability.

Villa María: Workshops on Agroecological Production and Sustainable Trades

The Villa María Farm School is opening registration for its training workshops in agroecological production and sustainable trades. This initiative promotes practical learning with a focus on respect for the environment and sustainability.

The program aims to train participants in low-impact productive techniques, fostering self-sufficiency and job creation in sectors such as ecological agriculture, artisanal cooking, and blacksmithing.

Mayor Eduardo Accastello led the presentation of the educational offerings, accompanied by representatives of local companies such as Sergio Montagner (Cormetal), who is sponsoring the welding workshop.

Courses will begin in the first week of April and include a variety of offerings:

  • Agroecological gardening – Thursdays 4:00–6:00 p.m. (Ana Ramos)
  • Artisanal jams and preserves – Thursdays 4:00–7:00 p.m. (Ruth Picos)
  • Cooking with whole and alternative flours – Mondays 3:00–6:00 p.m. (Silvia Comba)
  • Hand spinning, felting, and natural dyes – Fridays 2:00–5:00 p.m. (Rocío Raure)
  • Welding and hand tools – Fridays 3:30–6:30 p.m. (Cristian Deheza, 8 sessions)
  • Textile art and environmental experimentation – Mondays 2:00–6:00 p.m. (Marcos Carri)

Each workshop focuses on intensive practice, allowing participants to apply what they learn from day one and create job opportunities in sustainable sectors.

The Farm School has become a benchmark for alternative education, promoting responsible consumption and sustainable production.

Josefina, a graduate of the welding workshop and now employed at Cormetal, shared her experience:

"I had never used tools and I came to the course afraid, but I learned a lot. Now I operate more advanced machines and I feel this is my place. I want more people to join this training."

According to Adela Ghirardeli, Secretary of Education, and Virginia Martí, Coordinator of Responsible Production and Consumption, the growing demand for these courses shows a change in production and consumption habits, especially visible at the local Ferias Francas markets.
